ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 14. According to the "Situational-Analytical Center of the Fuel and Energy Complex" JSC of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, before the accident that occurred on August 10, daily oil production amounted to 232,000 tons.

However, the situation has changed since August 11, when daily production decreased to 220,400 tons, on August 12 to 217,500 tons, and on August 13 to 215,000 tons.

The accident at the MAEK occurred on August 11 in the Mangystau region in western Kazakhstan, which led to a widespread power outage. According to the KEGOC system operator, there was a shutdown of two turbine units at the CHP-2 MAEK, causing a subsequent shutdown at the Atyrau power plant at 45 MW and the Mangystau power plant at 98 MW.

On the same day, another accident also occurred: unit N3 at the MAEK thermal power plant was disconnected, which led to a reduction in the load by 147 MW. This led to a limitation of electric power consumption by 55 MW in the Atyrau power plant and by 35 MW in the Mangystau power plant.

In connection with this situation, starting on August 13, partial restrictions on electricity consumption were introduced in the Mangystau region. Cyclic shutdowns will probably last from 3 to 5 hours until the accident at the MAEC is eliminated.

There is also a restriction on the supply of electricity to industrial facilities in favor of maintaining the supply of electricity to household consumers.

This is not the first case of a serious accident at the MAEK in recent times. On July 3, there was a forced shutdown of power unit No. 1 due to a sharp increase in the supply to the boiler, which led to a disruption of energy supply to the western part of Kazakhstan, where the main oil fields are concentrated.

As a result of this accident, several large enterprises in the fuel and energy complex were de-energized, which affected the production, shipment, and refining of oil.
