ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 12. Head of the executive power of the North Kazakhstan region in Kazakhstan, Gauez Nurmukhambetov, got acquainted with the construction of a new greenhouse complex in Petropavlovsk city, Trend reports.
The project is currently at the final stage.
The new facility is being created taking into account local climatic conditions - long-lasting cold weather and short daylight hours. Modern technologies for heating the premises and watering plants were used for the project. The "Zelyony Sever" (Green North) company used the latest trends in vegetable growing when creating the greenhouse.
Cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce will be grown here. The first seeds will be sown in late October.
"The company will create 60 permanent jobs. The cost of the project is 7.2 billion tenge (about $15 million). Products from this greenhouse will cover the region’s need for vegetables by 30 percent," Nurmukhambetov said.
As previously stated by the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, greenhouse farms in Kazakhstan will begin to subsidize the costs of electricity, coal and gas during the off-season. Producers who grow vegetable crops in protected soil, in heated industrial greenhouse complexes and farm greenhouses can apply for state support.
The list of priority crops and subsidy standards will be approved by local executive bodies.
A mandatory requirement for farm greenhouses when receiving subsidies is to have a certificate (report) of compliance with production technologies.
