Kazakhstan reveals volume of gold bars sold in September

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 24. Kazakhstan's second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices sold 2,609 gold bars with a total weight of 133.2 kilograms in September 2023, Trend reports.

As noted by the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the program for the sale and buyout of measured refined gold bars for the population (hereinafter referred to as the Program) was launched by the National Bank in 2017. In total, since the beginning of its operation, 140,864 gold bars with a total weight of 4.9 tons have been sold.

Gold bars are presented in five varieties: 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 g. The most popular among buyers is the 10-gram bar. Its share of total sales is 26 percent — 36,386 pieces. This is followed by 5 grams: 31,766 pieces (22 percent), 100 grams: 30,458 pieces (22 percent), 20 grams: 25,365 pieces (18 percent), and 50 grams: 16,889 pieces (12 percent).

The largest volumes of sales of measured gold bars in September 2023 occurred in the following regions: Almaty (1,495 pieces, 57 percent), Shymkent (608 pieces, 23 percent), and Astana (170 pieces, 7 percent).

Kazakhstan's second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices sold 3,072 gold bars with a total weight of 137.2 kilograms in August 2023.
