ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 1. Kazakhstan plans to increase the threshold on growth in the cost of wholesale commercial gas on the domestic market up to 20 percent, Trend reports.
This is provided for in the draft order of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
At the moment, the project prohibits increases by more than 15 percent. Also, in the current plan, prices should increase: in 2023 - by 12.2 percent, in 2024 - by 9.1 percent, in 2025 - by 10.8 percent, in 2026 - by 11 percent, in 2027 - by 8.6 percent.
It was noted that given the projected sharp in gas consumption on the domestic market in the coming years, the absence of significant volumes of new sources of the resource base, it becomes impossible to compensate for losses in the domestic market through export revenues by 2026.
The draft document on increasing the threshold on the increase in the cost of wholesale commercial gas on the domestic market will be for public discussion until February 14, 2024.
Meanwhile, gas production volume for 2022 in Kazakhstan amounted to 53.3 billion cubic meters, or 103.1 percent of the 2022 plan. Commercial gas production amounted to 27.8 billion cubic meters, or 94 percent of the plan.
Domestic consumption of commercial gas in Kazakhstan amounted to 19.3 billion cubic meters, or 107.2 percent of the 2022 plan, exports - 4.6 billion cubic meters, or 85.1 percent of the plan.
The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production (supplied to the domestic market) amounted to 2.8 million tons, or 98 percent of the plan.
