ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 16. Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ, a national company) transported over 4.7 million tons of petroleum products in the first quarter of 2024, Trend reports.
According to the KTZ, this figure is 6 percent higher than the same period in 2023.
At the same time, in the transportation structure, 1.3 million tons were exported, which is 22 percent more than in the first quarter of 2023. In addition, 3.3 million tons were transported within the country.
Notably, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, KTZ, and railcar operators jointly coordinate the organization of the transportation of fuels and lubricants.
Meanwhile, over 61.4 million tons of cargo were moved across the Kazakhstan Railways network in the first quarter of 2024. Domestically, transportation increased by 2.4 percent to over 40.2 million tons, with 21.2 million tons destined for export.
Furthermore, the operational freight turnover of Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ, national company) reached 269 billion t-km from January through December 2023. This is 7 percent more than in 2022.
At the same time, transit transportation in containers amounted to 1.028 million TEU, which is 13.5 percent more than the same period last year.
In addition, the volume of cargo transportation between the railways of Kazakhstan and China increased by 22 percent and reached 28 million tons.
