ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 5. The government of Kazakhstan has allocated 3.4 billion tenge (about $7.57 million) for further modernization of the Ekibastuz CHPP, Trend reports.

According to the government, the corresponding decree was signed by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov.

Thus, funds will be transferred to the budget of the Pavlodar region for the overhaul of four (11–15) boiler units of the Ekibastuz CHPP (2.4 billion tenge) and the construction of a clarified water main there (988 million tenge).

As the government noted, these measures will improve the reliability of the heat source, reduce the risks of emergency situations, provide residents with a stable heat supply, and give impetus to the further socio-economic development of Ekibastuz.

To note, today, the Ekibastuz CHPP is the only source of centralized heat supply to the city. Last year, using funds from the government reserve, a major overhaul of five hot water boilers and heating networks was carried out, which allowed the heating season to pass without serious incidents.

Meanwhile, previously, 16 billion tenge (about $35.6 million) were allocated from the government reserve for the modernization of heat sources in Kentau, Ridder, and Kyzylorda, more than 2.4 billion tenge (about $5.3 million) for the overhaul of heating systems in Ridder, and 816 million tenge (about $1.8 million) for the repair of boiler houses in Kokshetau.

In general, this year it is planned to repair power units, boilers, and turbines in the cities of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Atyrau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda, Aktau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk, Zhezkazgan, Aktobe, Stepnogorsk, Rudny, Balkhash, etc.
