BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. Kyrgyzstan's textile production significantly increased in the first half of 2022, Trend reports via National Statistical Committee.

The value of Kyrgyzstan's textile production from January through June 2022 increased by 31 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (2.9 billion soums, or $35.9 million) - up to 3.8 billion soums, or $46.6 million).

Clothing production in Kyrgyzstan in the reporting period amounted to 2.7 billion soums ($33.8 million), which is an increase of 28.5 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year (2.1 billion soums, or $26.3 million) .

Meanwhile, the value of other manufactured textile products (including shoes) in the first half of this year amounted to 1 billion soums ($12.8 million), which is 25.7 percent more than in the same period of 2021 (795 million soums, or $9.6 million).

Notably, Kyrgyzstan plans to launch new textile production in the near future. For example, in the second quarter of 2022, a cotton processing plant with a capacity of 12,000 tons of cotton per year will be opened in Kyrgyzstan's Tokmak industrial zone.
