BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19. Kyrgyzstan reported a slight decrease in the value of issued microloans from January through June 2022, Trend reports citing the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the committee, the value of issued microloans in Kyrgyzstan in six months amounted to 17.4 billion soms ($215 million), which is a decrease of 1.7 percent compared to the same period of 2021.

At the same time, the number of recipients of microloans in the reporting period also decreased by 9.5 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year (329,000 people) - up to 298,000 people.

"Of the total volume of micro-loans issued, 42 percent were borrowed for consumer needs, 28 percent - for the development of agriculture, 12 percent - trade and public catering, and more than 6 percent - for construction," the committee said.

Meanwhile, the largest amounts of microloans were issued in the capital Bishkek (18.5 percent of the total volume of microcredits issued), as well as in Osh (18 percent), Chuy (16 percent) and Jalal-Abad (more than 14 percent) regions.
