Kyrgyzstan unveils amount of investments attracted to its transport sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. Over the past 18 years, investments worth $2.68 billion have been attracted to the road transport infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan.

As noted in the ministry, $405.5 million in the specified period was allocated in the form of grants, and the remaining $2.2 billion in the form of loans.

During the reporting period, the main donors who supported Kyrgyzstan's transport road were:

- China, represented by the Export-Import Bank, with the help of this organization, 9 road projects were implemented, including the North-South, Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart, and Osh-Sary-tash-Irkeshtam roads. Chinese Eximbank gave a loan of $1.1 billion and only $102.9 million was in the form of assistance from the Chinese government to finance the repair of roads and streets in Bishkek.

- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has allocated more than $642.6 million, within this support, sections of the roads Bishkek-Osh, Bishkek-Naryn-Torugart, Bishkek-Almaty, North-South were rehabilitated.

- Japan more than $316.9 million, including $76.6 million in the form of a grant, with these funds the reconstruction of Manas airport roads and the rehabilitation of the Bishkek-Osh highway were implemented.
