BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 9. The volume of rice exports from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan decreased over the year, Trend reports citing the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
According to statistical data, Kyrgyzstan's imports of rice from Kazakhstan from January through October 2022 totaled 4,472 tons, which is a decrease of 8.6 percent over the same period in 2021 (4,893 tons).
At the same time, the value of Kyrgyz rice imports from Kazakhstan in the reporting period also decreased by 3.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2021 ($3.1 million) - to $3 million.
During the reporting period, Kazakhstan became Kyrgyzstan's main rice supplier, followed by India ($547,200), and Pakistan ($242,300).
Meanwhile, total Kazakhstan's exports to Kyrgyzstan in the first 10 months of this year increased by 9.6 percent over the same period in 2021 ($548.7 million) - up to $601.7 million.
