BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 7. Russia and Kazakhstan became the main exporters of wheat to Kyrgyzstan in 2022, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 222,000 tons of wheat worth $57.7 million last year. Of these amounts, some 215,700 tons for $55.8 million was provided by Russia, and the rest (6,272 tons for $1.6 million) by Kazakhstan.
The volume of wheat imports slightly decreased last year, compared to 233,900 tons of wheat for $53 million in 2021. During that period, Kyrgyzstan imported 138,362 tons of wheat for $32 million from Russia and 95,543 tons for $21 million from Kazakhstan.
Last year, the main supplier of wheat and rye flour to Kyrgyzstan was Kazakhstan. The country exported to Kyrgyzstan 18,900 tons of flour for $8.4 million.
Meanwhile, Russia provided Kyrgyzstan with 7,400 tons of flour for $3.4 million, last year.
Overall, the country imported 26,700 tons of wheat and rye flour for $12.4 million in 2022.
In addition, Kyrgyzstan imported 309 tons of wheat from the US, four tons from South Korea, and one ton from Belarus.
