BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14. South Korea became the main car-exporting country to Kyrgyzstan in January 2023, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan imported 2,990 passenger cars from South Korea in the reporting period, which is 4.6 times more than 646 cars in January 2022

The value of the exports amounted to $22.4 million in the reporting month of 2023, increasing by 6.7 percent over $3.3 million in January 2022.

In the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan also imported 844 passenger cars from Russia, which is 3.4 times more than in January 2022 (246 cars). The value of the imports amounted to $10 million in January 2023, decreasing by almost 3 times over $3.4 million in January 2022.

During the corresponding period, Kyrgyzstan imported cars from the US (606 cars), China (590 cars), Japan (424 cars), Lithuania (408 cars), Germany (304 cars), Kazakhstan (95 cars) and others.

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 6,545 passenger cars for $96 million in January 2023. The volume of imports increased by 50 percent compared to 4,338 passenger cars in January 2022. While the value rose by 5 times over $18 million in the same period of 2022.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan imported 41,237 passenger cars from January through December 2022, which is 3 times more than 13,116 cars in 2021.

The total value of Kyrgyzstan’s passenger car imports reached $538 million last year, increasing by 3.6 times compared to 2021
