BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 9. The EU has allocated 7 million euros to the government of Kyrgyzstan as a grant for the education sector, Trend reports.
As reported by the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, this 7 million euro tranche marks the first installment of the 27 million euros designated by the EU to support the educational development strategy in Kyrgyzstan for the period 2023–2026,
Under this program, assistance is provided to enhance the quality of education and student assessment systems, promote gender equality and multilingual education, and improve public financial management. The Ministry of Finance plans to utilize the funds from this tranche to further enhance the quality of education, procure textbooks, and ensure internet access in all schools.
"An inclusive education system accessible to all is a key priority in the collaboration between the Kyrgyzstan government and the EU. This support reflects the EU's commitment to fostering the country's development," Marilyn Josephson, the Ambassador of the EU to Kyrgyzstan, said.
The European Union has already allocated approximately 72 million euros to support the education sector in the country from 2014 to 2021.
