BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 14. Kyrgyzstan imported 2,551 tons of potatoes from January through November 2023, which is 49 percent less than in the same period of 2022 (4,980 tons), Trend reports.
Data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the value of these imports amounted to $1.195 million, which is a decrease of 56 percent from $2.715 million in January-November 2022.
The majority of the imported potatoes came from Russia - 1,024 tons, followed by 616 tons from the Netherlands, 457 tons from Kazakhstan, 187 tons from Germany, 116 tons from Pakistan, 80 tons from Belarus, 48 tons from China, and 21 tons from Uzbekistan.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover was $13.917 billion from January through November 2023, up 29 percent from the same period in 2022 ($10.787 billion).
Exports totaled $2.807 billion, a 36.7 percent increase from the same time in 2022 ($2.054 billion). The country's imports totaled $11.109 billion, up 27.2 percent over the same time in 2022 ($8.732 billion).
