BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 1. Kyrgyzstan exported 953,379 tons of lignite (brown coal) in 2023, which is 16.7 percent more than in 2022 (817,314 tons), Trend reports.
Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee shows that the value of the exports amounted to $36.212 million, increasing by 50 percent year-on-year ($24.105 million in 2022).
The main buyer of lignite from Kyrgyzstan last year was Uzbekistan – 924,624 tons, which is 31.9 percent more than in 2022, and the value of the exports reached $35.074 million, increasing compared to 2022 by 69.7 percent.
At the same time, Kyrgyzstan exported 28,030 tons of lignite to China for $1.105 million in 2023, 702 tons of lignite to Kazakhstan for $29,600, and 22 tons for $3,000 to Poland.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
