BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) plans to open its office in Kyrgyzstan by July 2024, a source at the organization told Trend.
The source emphasized that recruitment efforts and other necessary preparations are currently in progress, in close coordination with the Kyrgyzstan government.
It was noted that GGGI's core mission revolves around aiding the Kyrgyzstan government in transitioning towards a green economy. This endeavor encompasses a multifaceted approach aimed at achieving poverty reduction, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and economic growth simultaneously.
The institute facilitates this transition by fostering a supportive policy environment, devising green investment projects, and bolstering access to green climate finance.
Notably, GGGI has already established a country office in Uzbekistan since 2021 and is now eyeing the expansion of its presence into Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in the foreseeable future, the source added.
The GGGI was opened in 2010 by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak. It began as a research center but changed into an international organization during the 2012 Rio+20 Summit in Brazil.
The organization helps countries grow their economies in a way that's good for the environment. They offer help with technology, research, and getting people interested in green growth, especially in poorer countries.
