Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan increases

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 12. Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 114.5 billion soms ($1.284 billion) from January through March 2024, which is a 4.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

The State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan attributes this growth to increased production in several sectors. Specifically, there has been a notable rise in the manufacturing of wooden and paper products, printing activities (up by 37.1 percent), refined petroleum products (up by 20.3 percent), food products (including beverages), and tobacco products (up by 17.6 percent).

Moreover, there has been an uptick in textile manufacturing, clothing and footwear production, leather and leather product manufacturing (up by 12.8 percent), pharmaceutical production (up by 11.6 percent), as well as rubber, plastic products, and construction materials (up by 4.2 percent). However, there was a decrease of 5.2 percent in extraction of mineral resources.

Meanwhile, industrial production amounted to 482.801 billion soms ($5.398 billion) in Kyrgyzstan last year, which is 9 percent higher than in 2022.
