BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. World Food Programme (WFP) provided nutritious meals for 442,348 Tajik people in May 2022, Trend reports citing the WFP's report.

According to the organization, despite Tajikistan's great advancements in recent years, malnutrition rates are still high in the country.

"Out of planned 138 school feeding, nutrition, and resilience projects, 135 were monitored by WFP throughout the country in the reporting month," the organization says.

Also, in May 2022 British Ambassador to Tajikistan Tim Jones visited a bakery in Yovon district, one of eight bakeries in the Khatlon and Sughd regions, which were renovated or constructed by WFP and the private sector.

Since 1993, The World Food Programme has been present in Tajikistan. WFP currently operates under the Country’s Strategic Plan (CSP) which was launched in July 2019.
