EBRD shares forecast on Tajikistan's GDP growth

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 26. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has shared a forecast on Tajikistan's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022-2023, Trend reports citing the bank's Transition Report 2022-2023.

According to this forecast, the gross domestic product of Tajikistan in 2022 is expected to grow 7 percent, and 8 percent in 2023.

The EBRD notes that the Tajik economy’s post-COVID-19 recovery is continuing apace. In the first half of 2022 GDP of Tajikistan grew by 7.4 percent over the same period in 2021, with strong gains in all sectors.

"From January through May 2022, budget revenues rose 13.6 percent year-on-year, driven by a 13 percent increase in tax receipts. To boost external resilience, Tajikistan has managed to build up significant international reserves. As of 1 July 2022 international reserves provided 8.1 months of import cover," the bank said.

Notably, EBRD has been cooperating with Tajikistan since 1992 and is the country's leading investor. Overall, the bank has invested 964 million euros to implement 156 projects in Tajikistan.
