BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. The number of officially registered unemployed citizens of Tajikistan amounted to 51,200 people as of February 28, 2023, which is a 5.6-percent decrease year-on-year, according to State Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, Trend reports via Tajik media.
As the agency said, the unemployment rate in Tajikistan was estimated at 2 percent at the end of February this year. Of all the registered unemployed, women accounted for 49.3 percent (25,200 people).
The statistics committee obtained data based on unemployed persons officially registered at the employment agencies of the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, out of the total number of employed, the number of people working for enterprises amounted to 1.2 million people, or 49.1 percent of the total employed population.
The number of hired labor in February 2023 increased by 0.6 percent compared to January 2023, and by 0.9 percent compared to February 2022.
According to the most recent statistical data provided by the agency, the number of officially registered unemployed in Tajikistan at the end of August 2022 amounted to 55,400 people, which is an increase of 2.7 percent compared to August 2021.
