DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 14. The value of agricultural production in Tajikistan reached 63 billion somoni ($5.767 billion) in 2023, Trend reports.
With reference to Tajikistan's Ministry of Economic Development, the amount grew by nine percent in 2022. Crop output grew by 6.8 percent, reaching 43.4 billion somoni ($3.973 billion), while livestock production fell by 14.1 percent, reaching 19.7 billion somoni ($1.803 billion).
In 2023, agricultural crops were sown over a total area of 861,400 hectares, an increase of 1,700 hectares from the previous year. Out of this, 235,000 hectares were allocated for autumn sowing (a two percent increase over 2022) and 627,000 hectares for spring planting (0.4 percent less than in 2022).
In addition, agricultural crops were re-sown on 116,582 hectares, a two percent increase over 2022.
During this period, the country produced 1.8 million tons of grain crops, three million tons of vegetables, 664,300 tons of fruits, and 344,400 tons of cotton.
