Turkish President: There is complete mutual understanding between Turkmenistan and Turkey

"There is a full mutual understanding between the parties on many topical issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and international relations in general," President of Turkey Abdullah Gul noted during the meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, who arrived in Istanbul on the eve, the Turkmen government said on Friday.

"There is a full mutual understanding between the parties on many topical issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and international relations in general," President of Turkey Abdullah Gul noted during the meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, who arrived in Istanbul on the eve, the Turkmen government said on Friday.

Gul said the two countries are working towards the implementation of previous agreements and commitments, and it is the best proof of the desire and determination of the parties to develop friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation.

In addition, the Turkish president stressed the "high interest of Turkish business representatives in building mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan as with a wealthy and reliable partner and in strengthening of long-term contacts."

The meeting at the highest level was held in the frame of the presentation of the seaport Ambarlı, located on the northern shore of the Marmara Sea.

The sides consider it perspective to expand cooperation taking into account the development priorities of Turkmenistan's government "in the context of strengthening the position as a maritime power and the modernization of the national merchant marine, as well as the development of port-service infrastructure."

Berdymuhamedov noted that there are most favorable conditions for the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation that will meet the contemporary realities.

He added that Turkmenistan consider fraternal Turkey as the reliable business partner, and intends to continue to develop a fruitful dialogue on the basis of its diversification. In particular, they talked about the possibilities of participation of Turkish partners in the modernization of the Turkmenbashi sea port - one of the largest transit hubs in the Caspian region.

It is planned to further modernize the port, upgrade it and construct new terminals in order to speed up the throughput capacity of the port.

The cooperation in the field of tourism was a special topic of discussion.

The Turkish experience in the formation of a strong resort infrastructure is of great interest in the frame of project to create a tourism zone Avaz on the Caspian Sea coast.
