Turkmen President to discuss joint projects in Chisinau

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will start his first official visit to Moldova on Wednesday on the invitation of the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti, Turkmen media outlets reported.

The meeting of the president is planned to be carried out in Chisinau, within which the sides will define common approaches to the further alignment of intergovernmental dialogue taking into consideration the maximum usage of the positive experience of the joint work and the existing potential, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

According to the state information service Turkmen dovlet habarlary the discussion of the possibility of realization of important joint projects aimed at the improvement of industry infrastructure as well as development of cooperation in the sphere of tourism is expected to be carried out at the highest level within the framework of the meeting.

Besides the summit talks, the two-day visit will also include negotiations in the parliament of Moldova. Vatan newspaper writes that the two countries has embarked on the path of convergence and establishment of more close interaction in all key directions, as well as in the trade-economical and cultural spheres.

It was earlier reported that the parties have decided to speed up the signing of appropriate agreements in order to avoid double taxation and to prevent fiscal evasion of taxes on income and property. Ashgabat and Chisinau learn the possibilities of cooperation in the energy field.

Turkmenistan is one of the key players in the gas market in Caspian region and Central Asia. At this stage, users of Turkmen natural fuel are China, Iran and Russia.

Turkmenistan holds the fourth place in the world for the reserves of natural gas and the country searches new markets in Europe and South Asia.
