Japan's Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has received an order for three sets of M701 DA gas turbine and generator to be installed at the 400 megawatt Zerger gas-fired power plant in Turkmenistan, MHPS message said.
The turbines will be supplied to Sumitomo Corporation, which is building the plant. The power generation system will be commissioned in 2018.
The Zerger gas-fired power plant will be built in Turkmenistan's Lebap province, approximately 600 kilometer to the northeast of Ashgabat. The project will help to increase the export of Turkmen electricity to neighboring Afghanistan, which receives it on concessional terms.
Currently, Iran and Turkey also buy electricity from Turkmenistan.
