Turkmenistan’s 1H2021 share of exports in foreign trade turnover increases

The share of exports in Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover in the first half of 2021 amounted to 60 percent, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan.

According to the information, the export of Turkmenistan in the first half of 2021 increased by 12.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

Since the beginning of the year, the share of exports in the country's foreign trade turnover amounted to 60 percent, while imports accounted for 40 percent.

It is noted that one of the main factors contributing to the growth of the export of Turkmen products abroad is the trading houses of Turkmenistan operating in the partner countries.

In addition, domestic products are sold daily at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of the country. In order to promote export products, search for new partners and establish trade relations, international exhibitions are organized in Turkmenistan, virtual expositions, as well as business conferences and economic forums, are held.

Currently, Turkmenistan has foreign trade cooperation with more than 80 countries of the world.

Earlier it was reported that exports of Turkmenistan for the first half of the year reached $7.7 billion, while imports amounted to $10.1 billion. The country's main trading partners are Turkey ($3.7 billion), the United Arab Emirates ($1.5 billion), Japan ($1.05 billion), China ($0.75 billion), and Russia ($0.42 billion).

Turkmenistan currently exports mostly natural gas ($5.1 billion), oil products ($1.1 billion), oil ($0.61 billion), cotton fiber ($0.27 billion), electricity ($0.12 billion).

The leading positions in imports of Turkmenistan are occupied by machinery, mechanisms, and equipment ($1.68 billion), base metals and products from them ($1.04 billion), products made of stone, plaster, and glass ($0.4 billion), chemical industry ($0.35 billion), food products ($0.34 billion).
