Russia to supply Turkmenistan’s Turkmengaz with pipes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 26

By Farida Nuri – Trend:

The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), the largest Russian pipe manufacturer, will supply the State Concern Turkmengaz in Turkmenistan with 15,000 tons of high-tech pipes as part of a project to build a gas turbine power plant, Trend reports citing Business Turkmenistan.

The pipes will ensure the transportation of gas from the existing fields of Turkmenistan to the Zerger gas turbine power plant, which is being built in the Lepab region of the country.

Following the terms of the contract, the Volzhsky Pipe and Chelyabinsk Pipe plants, which are part of TMK, will ship large-diameter pipes with an external insulating coating of high strength classes to their Turkmen partners.

The cooperation is developing within the framework of the program for the development of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan until 2030 and the program for expanding trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan.

"The new contract for the supply of high-tech products for Turkmengaz will contribute to the development of the energy infrastructure of Turkmenistan and increase its export potential. We plan to fully fulfill the supplies under the contract in 2021," TMK Sales Director Denis Prikhodko said.

The contract for the implementation of the Zerger power plant construction project was signed in 2015 between the Japanese Sumitomo Corporation and the Turkmen Turkmenenergo state power company.

Three Japanese-made gas turbines with a total design capacity of 432 MW will be installed at the gas turbine power plant. The station is intended to become the main source of electricity supplies from Turkmenistan to neighboring Afghanistan.
