BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. The delegation of Turkmenistan held a number of meetings in Geneva (Switzerland) with representatives of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Trade Center, and the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), during which it confirmed the country's firm commitment to becoming a full member of the WTO, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, the delegation of Turkmenistan was headed by the Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan Rahimberdy Dzhepbarov.

During the meetings, the vision of Turkmenistan on the WTO accession process and the possibility of launching a work program for the preparation of initial documentation were discussed.

The head of the delegation stressed the importance of creating internal institutional mechanisms for conducting negotiations, studying the consequences of joining the WTO, and bringing national legislation into line with the rules of the organization.

Representatives of these organizations, in turn, expressed readiness to provide further assistance to Turkmenistan in carrying out economic reforms and joining the WTO, and also expressed hope that the WTO will be able to play a coordinating role in providing this assistance.
