ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 23. Representatives of agribusiness and farms in Turkmenistan plan to harvest 224,000 tons of sugar beet this year, Trend reports.
According to official data, these figures are 4,000 tons more than last year's harvest.
Agricultural enterprises and farms in Turkmenistan have sown 17,900 hectares of land with sugar beet this year, which is 100 hectares less than what was sown in 2022 (18,000 hectares).
Furthermore, sugar beet is grown in the country mainly on the territory of the Mary region in the districts of Garagum, Sakarchage, Mary, and Bayramaly.
Meanwhile, in Turkmenistan, waste from the sugar beet harvest is used as fodder for livestock. Considering that, in addition to the Mary region, the root crop is grown in the Balkan region, where the livestock industry is the basis of the agricultural sector, there is a completely closed production of this product.
