ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 1. Farmers in Turkmenistan will start harvesting cotton on September 9 this year, Trend reports.
According to the official source, from this date, farmers of the Ahal, Balkan, Lebap, and Mary regions will join it in an organized manner, and farmers of the Dashoguz region located in the north of Turkmenistan, due to local soil and climatic conditions, will join them later, on September 15.
At the moment, combines and vehicles for the transportation of crops, receiving points, and cotton gins are being put in full readiness for the mass collection of cotton.
Before the start of the key seasonal campaigns, seminars will be held on the ground with the participation of agricultural scientists and expert practitioners aimed at improving the level of modern knowledge of villagers in the field of wheat and cotton cultivation and the exchange of best practices and techniques between farmers.
Turkmenistan's agricultural sector receives targeted support from the government. Farmers, private entrepreneurs, and other agricultural producers can benefit from preferential bank loans. Farmers receive mineral fertilizers, high-quality seeds, and chemical plant protection products at preferential prices.
