President of Uzbekistan Appoints New Defense Minister
Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 17 September /corr. Trend T.Jukov / The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, signed an order appointing Kabul Berdiyev the Defense Minister, Press Service of the President said.
"Kabul Raimovich Berdiyev was approved as the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan, being released from the position of Deputy Minister of Defense," the same source stated.
According to other order by the President, the Defense Minister Ruslan Mirzayev was released form his position due to transfer to other position. Many local experts connect the resignation with the tragic blasts in the military storehouses in Kagan in July this year. More than 20 people died and more than 140 wounded as a result of blasts.
