President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on Monday received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Grishchenko, reported the National Information Agency of the Republic (UzA).
At the talks the sides discussed prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Ukraine, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
At the meeting discussed issues of economic cooperation, expand the range of bilateral trade, UzA reported.
President Islam Karimov noted that the meeting provides a good opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of issues of Uzbek-Ukrainian cooperation.
Ukraine and Uzbekistan have accumulated vast experience of fruitful cooperation in political, economic, trade and investment, cultural and humanitarian fields. Relations between our countries based on a solid legal base, which creates favorable conditions for cooperation across the range of mutually beneficial ways.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed the willingness of the Ukrainian leadership to the conclusion of bilateral relations to a higher level, corresponding to the long-term interests of both countries and peoples.
Konstantin Grishenko also met with the chairman of the Senate (upper house of parliament) Ilgizar Sobirov and held talks at several ministries and departments of Uzbekistan.
"Ukraine is a supporter of the consistent development of cooperation with Uzbekistan in all directions," said the foreign minister of Ukraine.
He stressed that the partnership between Uzbekistan and Ukraine is developing trade-economic and humanitarian spheres.
"I am sure that out in the framework of our visit, meetings and agreements reached will bear good results. Uzbekistan has substantial experience in the development of different spheres, which is borrowed. We have observed with keen interest for your country carried out wide-ranging reforms in the parliamentary system, the changes taking place and be successful, "said Grishchenko.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine visited the Independence Square (Independence), and laid a wreath at the Monument of Independence and Humanism. In addition, he visited the State Museum of History of Timurids and laid a wreath at the monument to great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.
