National Holding Company (NHC) Uzbekneftegaz and Gas Project Development Central Asia AG (GPD, a joint venture of Gazprom and Gazprombank registered in Switzerland) have created a joint venture – Jizzakh Petroleum – to build a new oil refinery in the Jizzakh region, a representative of the Uzbek holding told Trend.

The representative said that the share of Uzbekneftegaz is 60 percent and GDP’s share is 40 percent.

Currently, the joint venture is working to conclude a contract with general contractor on the plant’s construction and the negotiations are at the final stage, noted Uzbekneftegaz’s representative.

As it was previously reported, in April 2017, Uzbekistan started to build an oil refinery in Zafarabad district of the Jizzakh region. The design capacity of the refinery is five million tons of oil per year, 3.7 million tons of motor fuel, more than 700,000 tons of aviation fuel, and 300,000 tons of associated petroleum products.

The estimated cost of the project is $2.2 billion. The construction is planned to be completed in 2022.
