Bilateral negotiations between Defense Minister of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov and counterparts from Belarus and Azerbaijan took place in Tashkent, Uzbek media reported.
The parties discussed current state and prospects for development of joint cooperation in defense and military education, exchanged views on strengthening mutually beneficial military-technical ties.
Azizov underlined the willingness of the Uzbek side to cooperate with the counterparts.
Following the meetings, bilateral plans of military cooperation for 2019 were signed between the Defense Ministry of Uzbekistan and the defense ministries of Azerbaijan and Belarus.
The plan provides for official visits of delegations of the Defense Ministry of Uzbekistan to Belarus, further discussion of cooperation in military topography, geodesy, cartography and navigation, training scientific and pedagogical personnel. It is also planned to hold joint Belarus-Uzbek exercises in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan also plans sharing experience in military education with Azerbaijan. Uzbekistan’s military specialists will participate as observers in international military exercises to be held in Azerbaijan’s territory.
On Oct. 12, the 75th Meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held at the Palace of International Forums of Uzbekistan.
The defense ministers of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will take part in it.
