Persimmons export from Uzbekistan increases for 9M2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 23

Some 13,400 tons of persimmons worth $1.7 million have been exported from Uzbekistan from January through September in 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Export of persimmons from Uzbekistan for 9M2020 increased by 4.6 tons compared to the same period last year.

The revenue from export of persimmons from January through September increased by 28 percent.

According to the State Customs Committee, 50 percent of the persimmons were exported to Kyrgyzstan and 39 percent to Russia.

In addition, this year the export of persimmon to Turkmenistan and Ukraine increased 3.2 times and 1.2 times, respectively.

Persimmons grown in Uzbekistan have been exported to Poland, Lithuania and Germany for the first time this year.

To date, persimmons are exported from Uzbekistan to the markets of 10 countries, including Belarus, the United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier, Uzbekistan received phytosanitary permission to export persimmons to Japan, Myanmar and Ghana.

Currently, Uzbekistan plans to obtain a phytosanitary permit for the export of fruits to the markets of India, South Korea, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Jordan, Bangladesh and the UK.
