Beekeepers in Uzbekistan to be linked with innovative information exchange system

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 23

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

An innovative information exchange system has been developed within the framework of the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) “Support to Sustainable Development of Beekeeping” technical cooperation program, Trend reports referring to nuz.uz.

The issue was discussed by the FAO Representative Office in Uzbekistan and the Uzbekistan Beekeepers Association.

The new system will also include data on the location of bee colonies for each beekeeper, which will be reflected on a special map so that beekeepers do not place bee farms close to each other.

In addition, the system will provide early warning of pesticide use, allowing farmers to take timely action to avoid loss of bees and crops.

It was also noted that FAO's technical cooperation program "Support for the Sustainable Development of Beekeeping" is aimed at supporting the ongoing reforms in the country to develop the industry. First of all, the program opens up new opportunities for training and increasing the potential of specialists in this industry.

In addition, educational seminars-trainings for representatives of the sphere are organized within the framework of the program, and advanced training of personnel in Turkey and Ukraine is provided, as well as the transfer of advanced equipment for the beekeeping industry in Uzbekistan.
