Uzbekistan and Russia are discussing joint projects on aircraft construction, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

As reported, the discussions were started following the results of the INNOPROM international exhibition held in Tashkent last week.

First of all, it is about the former Tashkent Chkalov Aircraft Production Association (TAPOiCH). The Il-76 aircraft were produced here in Soviet times, and until 2012 - Il-114-100.

“Currently, this plant is not operating. But I think that we will surely find some possible areas of cooperation,” said General Director of the Rostec State Corporation Sergei Chemezov.

According to the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov, now a special program is being prepared in Russia to train students from Uzbekistan in the direction of aircraft construction.

“This is about 100 people with a bachelor's degree annually,” Manturov emphasized in an interview with the ‘Vesti Saturday’ program on the Russia 1 TV channel.

The TAPOiCH has been operating in Tashkent since 1941. The plant, created in 1932 in Khimki near Moscow, was evacuated to Tashkent at the beginning of the Second World War (1941-1945). The last aircraft was produced by the enterprise in the summer of 2012. In total, during the period of independence, 17 units of Il 114-100 aircraft were produced here.

After the closure of the aviation enterprise, the Tashkent Mechanical Plant operated on the main territory of the TAPOiCH. In 2019, the Tashkent Technopark was created on its basis.
