Uzbekistan and China managed to minimize the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the growth of mutual trade by 33 percent since the beginning of this year, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on April 29 had a telephone conversation with the President of China Xi Jinping, during which topical issues of the bilateral and international agenda were discussed.
The parties noted the high level of Uzbek-Chinese relations and comprehensive strategic partnership achieved in recent years, the dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation between the countries.
Also, the sides noted the ongoing dialogue within the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative, including on the promotion of important infrastructure projects in the region, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan road and railways.
In addition, the proposal of the Uzbek side to strengthen the interconnection of Central and South Asia was supported by the Chinese side.
It is reported that parties also dwelled on the issues of expanding trade, economic, investment, and financial cooperation.
It was noted both countries are making good headway towards achieving $10 billion in trade in the coming years, as well as balancing exports and imports.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan will take an active part in the next International Chinese Exhibition of Imported Goods in Shanghai.
