Uzbekistan’s 4M2021 furniture products import decline

Uzbekistan’s import of furniture products from January through April 2021 decreased by $5.6 million compared to the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, Uzbekistan imported furniture products from 46 countries in the amount of $25.7 million.

It is reported that during the reporting period the largest volume of furniture products was imported by Uzbekistan from South Korea in the amount of $7.8 million. It is followed by China - $6.9 million, Russia -$2.7 million.

At the same time, Ukraine in 4M2021 exported furniture products to Uzbekistan worth $1.1 million, Kazakhstan – $570,500, Belarus – $564,100, Italy – $513,100, Poland – $308,300, Lithuania – $250,800, Germany – $170,900 and Singapore – $126,000.

Earlier it was reported that the export of furniture products in Uzbekistan in 2020 increased twofold, reaching $3.5 million. According to the information, almost 90 percent of the total volume of the country's furniture market is provided by domestic production. Currently, about 5,300 enterprises are operating in Uzbekistan for the production of furniture, laminated particle boards, component materials and wood processing.

Following the data of the State Statistics Committee, furniture products worth $3.5 million were shipped from Uzbekistan in 2020 to 23 foreign countries - twice as much as in 2019. Official statistics recorded that furniture exports amounted to $1.8 million in 2019.

The main exported of Uzbek furniture for the reporting period was Kazakhstan with exports worth $1.5 million. It is followed by Kyrgyzstan – $917,100, Tajikistan – $458,700, Russia – $187,200, Singapore – $116,000, India – $101,700, Turkey – $97,100, Slovenia – $51,200, Saudi Arabia – $49,700, Germany – $29,300, the US – $11,300.

In the structure of regions, the bulk of furniture exports fell on Tashkent and the Tashkent region, $1.3 and $1.2 million, respectively.
