BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. Uzbekistan has increased production of knitted fabrics in January 2023, Trend reports via Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

According to the statistics, large enterprises in the country manufactured 4,400 tons of knitted fabrics, increasing by 30.3 percent, compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

Overall, during the first month of this year, Uzbekistan manufactured textile products worth 4.04 billion soums ($355.5 million). The statistics note that in the structure of the manufacturing industry, 15.9 percent is taken by textile production.

At the same time, in January 2023, Uzbekistan exported textile products worth $218.7 million – a decrease of 14.5 percent, compared to the figure for January 2022 ($253.8 million). More than 369 types of Uzbek textile products were exported to 35 countries.

During the reporting period, the main importers of Uzbek textiles were: Russia ($102.7 million), followed by Türkiye ($34.2 million), Kyrgyzstan ($24.6 million), China ($23.1 million), Poland and Iran ($5.2 million), Kazakhstan ($4.7 million), Belarus ($4.1 million), Tajikistan and Italy ($2.5 million), Ukraine ($1.6 million), Azerbaijan and Egypt ($1.4 million) and Germany ($1.1 million).
