BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Uzbekistan and India concluded a package of more than 100 documents worth about $300 million to boost cooperation in the medical field, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health.
The relevant documents were signed during the Uzbek-Indian international medical forum held in Tashkent.
The forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, medical centers, medical higher educational institutions, and regional medical institutions of both countries.
The signed package of documents will allow both countries to expand medical cooperation, in particular, the digitalization of the field, the development of medical tourism, the implementation of joint programs in medical education and folk medicine, as well as the expansion of investment projects in this sector.
Uzbekistan and India have already established cooperation in this field. For example, more than 10 Indian medical institutions are operating in Uzbekistan.
In 2022, Uzbekistan together with Indian Nephrocare Health put into operation some hemodialysis centers on the territory of Uzbekistan. At the same time, this company made investments in the amount of $12 million for the development of Uzbekistan’s medical sector.
Furthermore, in March 2023, the Indian Aakash Healthcare company and Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of understanding according to which the Indian company will be provided with 10 hectares of land for the construction of a modern hospital with the latest infrastructure, medical equipment, and qualified personnel.
It was expected that investments in the amount of $100 million will be attracted for the implementation of the new project, as well as about 3,000 new jobs will be created.
