Uzbekistan’s exports to CIS countries up by 40% year-on-year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 1. Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with the CIS (the Commonwealth of Independent States) countries amounted to $4.7 billion from January through March 2023, increasing by 20.8 percent, compared to the figure for 1Q2022 ($3.9 billion), Trend reports via the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, the exports of goods and services from Uzbekistan to the CIS countries amounted to $1.6 billion (an increase of 40 percent year-on-year), while imports – were $3.07 billion, increasing by 12.3 percent, compared to the figure for the same period in 2022 - $2.7 billion.

The largest volume of Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries was recorded with Russia (46.9 percent), Kazakhstan (23.2 percent), and Turkmenistan (5.5 percent).

In 2022, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the CIS countries reached $17.8 billion. Exports from Uzbekistan to the CIS countries amounted to $6.5 billion, while imports – were $11.3 billion.

Uzbekistan's overall trade turnover from January through March 2023 amounted to $14.7 billion – an increase of 11.9 percent, compared to the same period last year ($13.2 billion).
