TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 26. General Electric Global Parts and Products, an international subsidiary of the General Electric multinational corporation, invested $60 million in the maintenance of Uzbekistan’s power plants, the supply of new units, and the restoration of used spare parts, Trend reports.
The news followed recent talks between representatives of Uzbekistan’s Uzbekenergotamir enterprise, which is part of Thermal Power Plants JSC, and General Electric Global Parts and Products.
“The main topic of the talks was the renewal and maintenance of existing power units in Uzbekistan, as well as the introduction of advanced, efficient technologies in Uzbekistan’s energy sector,” Chief Executive Officer of Uzbekenergotamir Ilkhomjon Rajabov said.
During the meeting, the parties also agreed to organize professional development for young employees of Uzbekenergotamir. They will be engaged in repair and commissioning work with the assistance of US specialists in order to study modern power plant units.
Earlier this year, in a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov and Chairwoman of AUCC Carolyn Lamm, the sides discussed various areas of mutual interest, including trade promotion, investment opportunities, and the exploration of new avenues for economic partnership.
Both sides expressed their determination to enhance bilateral trade, attract investments, and foster economic growth.
