Uzbekistan records increase in trade turnover with CIS countries

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 30. The value of Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with the CIS countries from January through August 2023 amounted to $13 billion, which is 6.15 percent more than in the same period last year ($12.2 billion), Trend reports.

In August 2023, the CIS countries accounted for 32.4 percent of Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover.

Of these, volume of Uzbek exports to CIS countries amounted to $5.27 billion, while the value of goods imported from CIS countries to Uzbekistan fixed at $7.72 billion.

As of August 2023, the share of CIS countries in Uzbekistan’s total foreign trade turnover decreased by 5.8 percent compared to 2022 year’s calculations, and the share of other countries accordingly increased by 5.8 percent and amounted to 67.6 percent of the country’s total trade turnover.

Uzbekistan’s overall trade turnover amounted to $40 billion from January through August 2023, which is 23.2 percent ($7.5 billion) more compared to the same period last year.

Of these, the volume of exports amounted to $16.4 billion, an increase of 27.8 percent compared to 2022 statistics.

In turn, the import rate fixed at $23.6 billion, which is an increase of 20.2 percent compared to the same period last year. As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to a negative number of $7.1 billion.
