TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 29. Uzbekistan imported 11,400 tons of oranges from January through November of 2023, Trend reports.
As per data provided by Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee, the recorded number reflects a 3,000 tons increase compared to the same period of 2022.
The value of these imports amounted to $7.5 million in the reporting period.
The countries accounting for the largest volume of exports to Uzbekistan look as follows:
Iran – 4,900 tons;
Egypt – 2,300 tons;
South Africa – 2,200 tons;
Turkey – 1,400 tons;
Kazakhstan – 480 tons;
UAE – 126 tons.
Meanwhile, the total volume of Uzbekistan’s imports through the first 11 months of 2023 amounted to $34.1 billion, which is a significant uptick of 23.3 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
A notable contributor to the positive trade balance is Uzbekistan's gold exports, totaling $1.28 billion in the last month alone.
The cumulative revenue from gold sales to foreign countries in 2023 has already surpassed $8.15 billion, more than doubling the figures from the previous year.
