TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 29. The number of POS terminals in Uzbekistan amounted to 430,066 as of April 2024, Trend reports.
The data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan shows that this figure has increased by 0.31 percent year-on-year (428,754 POS terminals as of April 2023).
In addition, Uzbekistan installed 430,264 POS terminals as of March 2024—a decrease from 428,838 terminals deployed in March 2023.
Meanwhile, the volume of transactions in Uzbekistan conducted through POS terminals reached 398.7 trillion soums ($31.3 billion) from January through April 2024. The recorded number reflects a 41.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, when the bank recorded 282.4 trillion soums ($22.2 billion) worth of transactions through POS terminals.
Furthermore, the volume of transactions conducted through POS terminals amounted to 71.6 trillion soums ($5.6 billion) in April 2024, which is up by 50.7 percent compared to the previous month (47.5 trillion soums, or $3.7 billion in March 2024).
Uzbekistan is actively promoting contactless payment systems by popularizing NFC technology in sales and service points throughout the country and by taking measures to provide QR codes in accordance with the requirements of trade and service points throughout the country.
