TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 21. Uzbekistan hit it out of the park with a whopping 11.4 million Gcal of heat energy production from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
The data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the production volume of heat energy has decreased by five percent compared to the same period last year (12 million Gcal in January–May 2023).
At the same time, the country’s volume of heat energy production reached 1.4 million Gcal in May 2024, which is equal to 1.4 million Gcal in April 2024.
Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) lent a helping hand on a $1.5 billion project to bring the heating system of Uzbekistan's Tashkent up to speed.
The project aims to lower carbon emissions in Uzbekistan, enhance energy efficiency, decrease water usage and leakage, and improve the quality and dependability of the country's heat supply.
When the initiative is fully implemented, it is expected to reduce network heat losses by more than 40 percent, minimize breakdowns, reduce water leakage by more than 60 percent, and reduce electricity consumption by more than 15 percent in the country.
