Sajjad Karimi, accused of murdering doctor Gholamreza Sarabi, in Tehran on September 23, was detained in the city of Gilangerb, Kerim Kishwari, Iranian province Kirmanshah police head, was quoted by Iranian news agency MEHR.
Kishwari said that the detainee had firearms. During the preliminary investigation Karimi pleaded guilty.
A cardiologist, doctor Gholamreza Sarabi was assassinated in Tehran on September 23. The next day, Sarabi died in hospital.
On Wednesday, another person accused of Sarabi's murder, Bahman Karimi - father of arrested Karimi, was killed in a shootout with police.
