Iran has arrested four journalists from the country's leading pro-reform newspaper Sharq, dpa quoted the Isna news agency as reporting Wednesday.
Tehran's public prosecutor had arrested four senior journalists and a member of the paper's finance department, Isna reported.
"They were arrested because of security offences and their case is under investigation," an official said.
The Saham opposition website claimed that the chief editor Ahmad Gholami and his political and international editors were among those arrested.
Sharq reappeared on newsstands in April after a three-year ban for publishing an interview with a gay rights activist.
