Iran inaugurates two remote sensing facilities

Iran has inaugurated two remote sensing facilities, one of which is mobile, Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced on Sunday, Tehran Times reported.

The fixed facility has been designed and manufactured by Iranian experts, Vahidi told reporters.

The facility has a range of at least 2,500 kilometers in radius, and it is capable of taking pictures of an area of 10 million square kilometers every 24 days, he stated.

These pictures can be used for agricultural activities, city construction, and natural disaster management and in other areas, he explained.

5 new domestically manufactured satellites to be unveiled

Iran will also unveil five new domestically manufactured satellites tomorrow (Monday), Vahidi added.

"Tomorrow (Monday), on the seventh day of the Ten-Day Dawn, the Fajr, Rasad, Amir Kabir, Zafar, and Kavoshgar 4 satellites as well as the first-stage and second-stage engines of the Safir-e-Fajr satellite carrier and a space recycling and environmental station will be unveiled by the president," he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Vahidi said that Iran's speedy destroyers are some of the best destroyers in the world.

Iran plans to build long-range missiles

Vahidi also said Iran plans to manufacture a long-range missile system similar to the S-300 system.

"Manufacturing the long-range missiles is on the Defense Ministry's agenda, and so far it has taken important steps in this regard," Vahidi told the Mehr News Agency.

"Basically we do not want to build long-range S-300 or S-400 missiles, but we want to domestically manufacture long-range anti-aircraft systems," he added.
