Salehi: Iran ready to help promote welfare, security in Afghanistan
Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help promote welfare and security in Afghanistan, IRNA reported.
Salehi made the remark in a meeting with visiting Afghan Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Javed Lodin in Tehran on Sunday.
According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, the two sides reviewed issues of mutual interests as well as regional developments and ways to expand ties and cooperation between the two countries.
Referring to cultural and historical commonalities between Iran and Afghanistan, Salehi said grounds are well-prepared for expansion of mutual cooperation and Iran spares no efforts to this effect.
Underlining the need for restoring stability and security to Afghanistan, he expressed the hope that all Afghan political wings would play a vital role to this effect.
The Afghan envoy, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of the Afghan foreign minister to his Iranian counterpart and lauded Iran's assistance and efforts in resolving problems facing Afghanistan.
